Vinyasa Flow Yoga: One of the most popular contemporary styles of yoga, Vinyasa is a dynamic yoga practice that connects poses together in a sequence where each movement is synchronized to a breath. Vinyasa encompasses many different types of yoga and the variable nature of Vinyasa Yoga helps to develop a more balanced body. As a philosophy, Vinyasa recognizes the temporary nature of things. We enter into a posture, are there for a while and then leave. The Vinyasa flow sequences in the class are mixed with deep stretches and restorative poses. This will help students develop strength, flexibility, joint health while helping improve their balance through continuous movement in between poses. Options will be provided to students to ensure they are enjoying the benefits of the class while practicing within the level they are comfortable with. The class is suitable for students who are new to yoga as well as more experienced practitioners who are looking to deepen their practice.
Vinyasa + Stretch (Friday evening): Unwind at the end of a long week with a strong Vinyasa flow practice followed by a blissful combination of yin and restorative yoga. The Vinyasa flow will help improve your cardio, strength and flexibility, raising your heart rate and warming up your muscles while enhancing your breath-movement synchronicity. Yin yoga is a form of stretching that brings stimulation to fascia and joints of the body (mainly pelvis, sacrum and spine) through longer holds. The latter portion of the class shifts into restorative yoga, a practice in which the body is placed in comfortable and supported positions that enable the nervous system to open and relax. You will create space in your body and mind, ready to embrace the weekend recharged with peace and tranquility.
Yin RAstore: This class offers the benefits of yin yoga and restorative yoga. Combining these two styles together will lead you to an invigorated body and a calmed mind. Each class starts with the practice of yin, a form of stretching that brings stimulation to the fascia and joints of the body through holding postures and utilizing props to help hold the body in an intense yet stable position. The latter portion of class will integrate restorative yoga, a practice in which the body is placed in comfortable and fully supported postures so the nervous system can fully open and relax. Students leave class feeling relaxed and RAstored.
Gentle Yoga: If you want to take it slow but still get the therapeutic benefits of yoga AND improve your alignment, this all levels class is for you. We start with deep breathing exercises that stimulate your main diaphragm and help increase your oxygenation. We then shift into a gentle flow practice to warm up our bodies followed by key yoga postures with detailed anatomical cues to perfect your alignment and to protect you from injuries. This gentle class offers well-supported and highly individualized tools such as body awareness, breath work and meditation; helping you to regenerate, restore balance and find a greater sense of well-being.
Yogalates (from RAYoga's website): Yogalates combines yoga with the core strengthening benefits of Pilates. In this heated style, we warm up and cool down the body just like a typical Vinyasa class but then get the body going with classical mat Pilates. Expect to work hard in this class as the focus is core stabilizing and strengthening! Yogalates is a great class for students who love high energy yoga and core-focused exercises.
