Experience Magnificent Bodrum

A short 50 minute boat-ride from the Greek Island Kos, Bodrum is a port city in Muğla Province, in the southwestern Aegean Region of Turkey and is regarded as the French Rivera of the Aegean Sea. Pristine beaches and glittering waters provide a stunning backdrop for the culture and history of Bodrum which is one of the top tourist destinations for Europeans as well as Turks. The history of Bodrum goes back to 13th century BC. Formerly known as Halicarnassus, the capital of the ancient region of Caria, is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Mausoleum of Mausolus. You can see still the foundations and a collection of the many battle scene friezes, which are on display next to the remains of this mausoleum. The ancient Carians, the Greeks, the Persians, Crusaders and Ottomans have all been in this magical place that seduced many civilizations because of its stunning natural beauty.

Once a cozy fishing village of only a few thousand people, Bodrum has experienced a renaissance in the last half century that has transformed what used to be a sleepy community into one of Turkey's most popular vacation hotspots. Writers, intellectuals, artists and musicians have long called this Aegean town home, or second-home, attracting a vibrant cultural scene paralleled only by the town's nightlife.

The Bodrum Castle (the Castle of St. Peter) which overlooks the marina is one of the most popular sights and spots of Bodrum. It is a magnificent structure on the waterfront, is over 600 years old and is a superb example of a gothic style stronghold, where you can walk around the twisting passageways and towers designed to make the castle as difficult as possible for invaders to take. The castle grounds include a Museum of Underwater Archaeology and hosts several cultural festivals throughout the year. It takes 50 minutes via boat to reach the Greek Islands from Bodrum, with services running multiple times a day by at least three operators.

Marvelous bays around Bodrum peninsula each provide a different attraction and allure for tourist. Whether you would like to visit historical sites or authentic fisherman villages, there are many different attractions to discover in this magical vacation destination.

Information about the yoga classes:

Vinyasa Yoga is a flowing, dynamic sequence of poses that is one of the most popular styles of yoga in the western world. Also sometimes called "Vinyasa Flow Yoga," this type of practice involves synchronizing the breath with a continuous flow of postures. The fluid, almost dance-like movements increase flexibility, strength, and stamina, as it calms the mind and improves overall health.

· Hatha is a general category that includes most yoga styles. It is a traditional system that includes the practice of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises), which help bring peace to the mind and body, preparing the body for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation.

· Yin yoga is based on the Taoist concept of yin and yang, opposite and complementary principles in nature. Yin is the stable, unmoving, hidden aspect of things; yang is the changing, moving, revealing aspect. In the body, the relatively stiff connective tissues (tendons, ligaments, fascia) are yin, while the more mobile and pliable muscles and blood are yang. A Yin yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body - the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is simply that - restorative. It is the centering of your breath and body - aligning the physical and mental by practicing stillness or gentle movement for extended periods of time. The props assist in helping you to hold poses longer. It is a practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. Restorative yoga poses will calm and reset your entire body and mind to prepare you for ultimate relaxation in Corpse Pose

Therapeutic Yoga

Therapeutic yoga is a gentle approach that can be used to create space in areas that are compressed, relieve tight muscles and help induce the relaxation response when restorative postures are incorporated. Classes are designed to move slowly so you can feel what’s happening on the inside. There is a strong focus on breath, and many aspects of the sequences are done dynamically in an effort to bring more blood flow to the muscles. The intention is to create healthy movement patterns so circulation can flow and improve joint mobility.    :

Pranayama and Meditation

Deepak Chopra says in his book on Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga that “Breath is the essence of life. In yoga, breath is intimately associated with prana which translates from Sanskrit to English ‘primodial impulse.’ Learning to regulate your prana to calm, balance, cleanse and invigorate body/mind is a powerful technique of yoga. Your breath integrates many layers of your life – your environment, your respiratory tract, your nervous system, your mind, and every cell in your body. Regulating your breath enhances your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. It is key to a healthy and vibrant life.” During your pranayama classes, we will work on different different techniques (Ujjayi, Bhastrika, Kapalabhati, Dirgha, Nadu Shodhana) with the ultimate goal of deepening your connection to your breath and teaching you how to manipulate your autonomic nervous system to calm, cleanse and invigorate your body/mind.

Mind is a thought-generating organ and the activity in your mind is communicated to every cell in your mind. When there is turbulence in your mind, this is what is communicated to cells, tissues and organs. If you are able to quiet and calm your mind, you send a message of peace and harmony to every cell and tissue in your body. The mediation practice in the retreat is designed to make this soothing therapy for the mind accessible to everyone to help you achieve expanded awareness from within.
